This week has been all about getting back into the swing of things and embracing some normality, and I have to say, it’s felt good! As much as I love travelling, I’ll always love that feeling of coming home. Usually, one of the things I look forward to most is cooking again, as we do so little of it while travelling, and I really do love to cook. So it’s been really fun this week getting creative in the kitchen, and I’m going to ride this wave of enthusiasm as long as it lasts. I’m sure it won’t be long until we really are back to normal and are scratching our heads wondering what on earth to have for dinner each night!
This first week of November has bought with it fiercely hot weather – it’s scarcely been below 30 degrees during the daytime all week! This of course is nothing to write home about at this time of year in Australia, but it has been quite the change from Autumnal Europe! A cool change is on its way though, as a thunderstorm hit on Thursday night and another one is brewing as I sit here and type this on Friday afternoon. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to end the week actually – my love for thunderstorms knows no bounds!
In other, happy-related news, we received some very exciting news towards the end of our trip – my sister and her boyfriend are engaged!!! After being together since the end of high school, Fraser proposed to Lauren in Paris, her favourite city in the world, in the most beautifully romantic way, with the Eiffel Tower as their perfect backdrop. We could not be happier for them!
Here is a bunch of other things that have made be really happy this week!
1// Waking up with the sun. I love the longer days we have in the warmer months and I have been relishing waking up with the sun each morning. I’m sure it has a lot to do with the jet lag we can’t seem to shake, but I’m thinking of making it a permanent part of my morning routine. It’s just such a lovely way to wake up, and there’s nothing like having a few extra hours in the morning before work to do whatever I please!
2// The blooming Jacaranda trees. It was such a lovely surprise to wake up the morning after our return to Australia (as we’d flown in the night before) to find ourselves surrounded by a sea of purple! Spring just wouldn’t be Spring without it!
3// Learning a new card game! We were lucky enough to have some visitors this week – Ty’s Aunt and Uncle – and during their stay, they taught us a great card game that can be played with only two people. It’s called Golf and we’ve been playing it every afternoon this week! Have any of you ever played it?
4// Sephora.com.au is here! My request has finally been heard (ok, not just mine) and I’m really excited about being able to shop Sephora in Australia! Happy days!
5// Orange Is The New Black. Ty and I got into this show while on our honeymoon thanks to our Netflix obsession and we are almost through season 2 now. Do any of you watch it?
What have your favourite moments from the week been? I’d love to know! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend in store. We are heading home to my parent’s on Saturday for a little pre-engagement party get-together with the newly engaged couple so that’ll be a lot of fun! Aside from that, I’m hoping to catch up on the blog and just rest and relax before another week.
Happy weekend everyone and thanks so much for reading! XO
