Recently, I came across this DIY face mask recipe and have been waiting to give it a go ever since. The perfect opportunity arose this past Saturday afternoon when I had the house to myself. Ty was out motorbike riding in the bush (I opted out this close to the wedding because the amateur bike rider = sustained injuries right in time for the wedding equation seemed a little too risky at this point in time) and so I made the most of it with a girly afternoon sesh of pampering.
While I didn’t get time to fit in re-watching SATC eps, organising my closet and listening to the pop anthems of the 2000s (all of which make up my ideal girly afternoon), I made this quick and easy DIY coffee scrub face mask and LOVED the results. My skin felt so smooth, re-hydrated and soft after the mask and I will definitely be repeating it again next week before our wedding!
I made my face mask using Greek yogurt, ground coffee and honey as my skin tends to be on the drier side, but you can use a little lemon juice if you have oily skin as Kathleen suggests! The coffee helps to reduce puffiness and the Greek yogurt and honey feel very nourishing against the skin. The recipe makes enough for at least two people, so you can alter the quantities depending on your needs.
Ingredients (adapted from here)
1/3 cup Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon of finely ground coffee
1 tablespoon of honey (or coconut oil) *For oily skin, try lemon juice
1// Combine the Greek yogurt, coffee grounds and honey together in a small bowl.
2// Using your finger tips, apply the mask liberally to your face, being sure to avoid the eye area.
3// Once the mask has dried, add a little water and massage it gently into the skin.
4// Rinse off with warm water and check out your glowing skin!
Seriously, when it’s so easy (and inexpensive!) to give yourself an at-home facial, I don’t know why I ever visit the spa! All these ingredients are staples in our household so this will easily be something I will make again and again. And I only look mildly terrifying so it’s totally fine.
Have you got any home remedies for your skin that I should know about? If you give this mask a try, let me know what you think!
