I don’t really know if I should tell you this, because if I do, I feel like I won’t be able to change my mind and go back on it later. Like somehow writing it down means I’ll have to do it. But I’m going to write it here anyway and hope that if I do decide to change my mind, you’ll all forgive me!
So. I decided that I want to do my own makeup for my wedding. I’ve loved doing my makeup for years now, it’s my favourite part of getting ready every day, and I’ve just never felt like myself when I’ve had my makeup professionally done (which is about four or five times in my life).
I definitely want to feel like ‘me’ on our wedding day and so I decided that I would just do my own makeup come October. It was an easy enough decision to come to. But now, I’m kind of realising that achieving beautiful, flawless, yet natural-looking, bridal makeup is actually quite tricky for an amateur like me. I’ve been browsing Pinterest for my favourite makeup looks and plan on practising my favourites quite a lot over the next 9 months until I can come up with something that has staying power (very important – needs to withstand possible (probable) tears), looks amazing and feels like me.
In the meantime, here are a few looks I’m loving so far. To be fair, they are all fairly similar (it’s no surprise at all that I love the natural, pretty look!) but I’m not sure if they’ll definitely all suit me. I feel like once I have my dress, I’ll have a better idea about what type of makeup will look best, but you’ve got to start somewhere right?
I’ll be on the hunt for great cosmetic products to complete these looks, so if you have any makeup product that you swear by, let me know in the comments so I can go and track them down!
Because we live so far away, I’m thinking of photographing the different looks as I create them so I can show my family (namely my Mum, and sisters – I doubt my brother or my Dad would be terribly interested!) to get their opinions and make a decision, if needed. If that sounds like something that might be useful or interesting to you or others, let me know, and I can always share the photos as I progress here on LUW 🙂
